Kungstornet, Nyköpingshus

Nyköping

Nyköpingshus is situated in the very centre of Nyköping. Between the marketplace and the harbour next to the river you find the old and exciting castle Nyköpingshus.

Inside the castle you find three exhibitions, "Prisoners and inmates", "Schack och makt" and "Fursten".

The Schack och makt-exhibition show how people lived their lives during the Middle Ages and how the religion influenced the catholic country. The year 1317 the famous Nyköping banquet took place and you will learn about the exciting but sad story.

The "Fursten" exhibiton tells you the story about Duke Karl, youngest son of King Gustav Vasa. How he ruled the duchy, his power and how the people lived in a society 400 years ago.

At the first floor you find our shop where you can buy books, handicraft, glasses and gifts with a historical background.
